Namibia National Accounts Q1 2026

Namibia National Accounts Q1 2026

Namibia achieved a 2% real growth rate in 1Q ’26, a marked turnaround from the quarter prior, but it remains the weakest 1Q growth figure recorded since covid. Namibia recorded 2.8% growth in 1Q ’25 and in all years post the covid recovery, the first quarter printed the highest growth for each respective year. The Mining & Quarrying sector experienced the largest contraction, falling by 12.2%, following up a 1.5% contraction the year prior. Balancing out the primary sector was Agriculture which grew by 12.1% off a very low base in ’25. Its growth is due to large growth in crop farming following good rains and livestock subsectors as slaughtering is slowly picking up. Following the trend set in ’25 Manufacturing was the only sector outside of the primary industry to experience any form of contraction.
