Private Sector Credit Extension - April 2026
Total PSCE grew to NAD126.7bn in Apr ’26, 6.8% higher than the balance a year earlier and 0.6% higher than Mar ’26. Apr is usually a subdued month for lending with credit growth averaging only 0.2% growth in the month between ’20-25. With the monthly growth rate nearly triple the average it is clear that there has been some change in credit lending. Post the ’22 credit boom lending slowed dramatically, remaining below 3% in the following three years. The recent strong performances hint at a change in this trend, with Apr ’26 bringing the YTD average up to 6.5% growth. On a monthly basis credit is up 0.6% driven mostly by business credit which rose 5.5% y/y, a sharp growth in comparison to Mar’s 4.4%. Household credit rose by 4.2% y/y, and 0.3% m/m. The most surprising growth within credit lines was overdrafts which rose a whopping 11.4% y/y, with household and business overdraft rising by 5.4% and 12.9% respectively. While business credit continues to be the main focus, total household credit, loans & advances, mortgage loans and instalment & leasing all saw all-time highs in Apr ’26.
