Namibia’s annual inflation came to 4.2% in Mar ’25, up from 3.6% in the previous month, but lower than the 4.5% recorded in Mar '24. The Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages basket was the largest contributor to annual inflation, contributing 1.2 percentage points (p.p.), although Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco increased its contribution from 0.5 p.p. to 0.8 p.p., as the 6.75% increase in excise duties took effect on 12 Mar '25. The Transport basket also marginally increased its contribution, due to the fuel price increase of 50c/L for both petrol and diesel products in the month.
